Local Foods, Local Places

In December 2014, the White House Rural Council and six federal agencies announced that Canton was one of 26 communities selected to participate in Local Foods, Local Places, a federal initiative to provide technical support to integrate local food systems into community economic action plans.

Under the direction of the Village’s Sustainability Committee, a steering committee was formed and met with a technical assistance to plan and implement a two-day workshop in June 2015. The workshop was well attended by stakeholders from Canton and the North Country.
